Principal's Update

Dear Trottier Community,

Thank you for a wonderful first week of school. It was great to see our students return with so much energy and enthusiasm for the year ahead.

We began the week with a strong start, highlighted by our eighth-grade students' speeches during the opening assembly, followed by a variety of community-building activities. A special thank you to Mr. Butterfield and Mr. Felo for organizing these events, and to our summer reading committee and teachers who worked hard to prepare engaging materials that connected students with their reading assignments.

I want to thank SOS for their wonderful support in our Trottier opening day assembly this year. With their help, we were able to welcome the Kekeli Drum and Dance group. Students and staff enjoyed a brief history of African drumming and had the chance to participate in both drumming and dance. It was a meaningful cultural celebration and a fun way to bring our community together at the start of the year.

Although it was a short week, it certainly felt like a full one. I know there have been some questions about scheduling, and I ask for your patience as we make adjustments.

Looking ahead, on Thursday, we will hold our annual student safety and expectations assembly. During this session, we will review important topics such as our bullying prevention efforts, the “Say Something” program, and key expectations for students, including cell phone use, academic honesty, and cafeteria behavior. This assembly also emphasizes inclusivity and what it means to be a positive member of the Trottier community. I encourage you to check in with your child after Thursday’s presentation to hear their reflections.

I hope you all enjoy the long Labor Day weekend, and we look forward to returning on Tuesday to continue a great start to the school year.

Let's make it a great one!

Save the Date Nature's Classroom Orientation 9/8

Sixth Grade Families,

Please save the date. We will be hosting our Nature’s Classroom Orientation on Monday, September 8, from 5:30–6:30 p.m.

This session will provide important information about the trip, including logistics, pricing, and how our team will work with families to ensure all students can participate. You will also have the opportunity to connect with our school nurse regarding dietary and medical considerations. The trip will take place at the end of the month, and we look forward to seeing families at the orientation.

Deerfoot Entrance Van Drop-Off

I am writing to bring to your attention an important matter regarding student drop-off and pick-up. For families entering from Deerfoot Road, please be mindful of the red school van used for student transportation. When the red lights on the back of the van are flashing, it is the same as a school bus displaying its stop sign. For student safety, it is unlawful to pass the van at that time.
In the afternoon, the van also requires adequate space for student pick-up. This has been challenging because many cars line up early for dismissal. To address this, we will be placing two orange cones to reserve a space for the van.
I understand these adjustments may affect some families’ routines. I encourage students to use the bus whenever possible. If that is not an option, please plan accordingly and make any necessary adjustments to your child’s transportation arrangements. These steps will help ensure the safety of all students and support a smooth and timely arrival and dismissal process.

A Message from the Health Office

Reminder: If your child requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or other rescue medication to be kept in the health office, please be sure to send in appropriate orders (must be dated for this school year) along with the medication as soon as possible.

Please reach out to the school nurse with any updates/concerns about your child.
