Principal's Update

Dear Trottier:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and found time to relax, re-energize, and connect with family and friends. As we return to school, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your ongoing partnership, collaboration, and support. Our families play a crucial role in supporting our teachers and students, and we are truly thankful for all you do.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Southborough community members and our wonderful cafeteria staff who came together to prepare and deliver nearly 50 turkey dinners to families in need on Tuesday. This effort truly represented the best of Trottier—students, staff, and community members working together to support one another.

It is hard to believe that December is already upon us. Looking ahead at the calendar, we have much to be grateful for and much to look forward to. This week, we are excited to celebrate the incredible work of our performing arts and music programs. On Wednesday, our students will participate in an in-school chorus concert, followed by a joint evening concert with Neary on Thursday night. Next week, we will showcase our instrumental program with a concert on Thursday, December 11.

As a reminder, due to technical issues before the break, we rescheduled the MetroWest Survey to December 1. Students will participate throughout the school day.

Let's make it a great one!

Postural/scoliosis and BMI (height/weight) screenings goes here

Dear Trottier:

Postural/scoliosis and BMI (height/weight) screenings will take place sometime in January for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders here at Trottier. This year, the postural screenings will be opt IN, meaning your child will only be screened if you choose to opt your child IN for this screening using the following link:  POSTURAL SCREENING OPT-IN FORM

BMI screenings will be done unless you email me (school nurse) to exempt your child from this screening. If you choose to exempt your child, please ensure that an up-to-date physical (within the past year) is on file in the health office. Please reach out with any questions.  Nurse Garland bgarland@nsboro.k12.ma.us.

Sora Apps

We want to inform families about a recent development that could cause confusion when downloading the Sora Reading app for e-books and e-audiobooks.

OpenAI has developed a new AI resource, which is also called Sora. It generates video content associated with deep fakes, and has an 'unacceptable risk' level for children and teens. It’s available on Open AI's platform and iOS. The logo looks like this:

Sora Reading App, the resource provided by the Massachusetts Library System is available to Trottier students using their secure Google login. This app is also available through device app storefronts for free, and it looks like this:

Please be sure to check devices within your home that students have access to if you do not want them to use the Sora AI app. The Sora AI app is NOT accessible to students at school on their school-issued device. Please contact Ms. Alenson, School Librarian, with any questions.
