Dear Trottier:
I wanted to provide a quick update regarding our late buses. We have two late buses running Tuesday through Friday for students who stay after school for clubs, extra help, athletics, or other extracurricular activities.
The buses have been running primarily on time and are designed to cover both the north and south sides of town.
A few important reminders as students become familiar with the routine:
- Please review the attached routes with your child. Late bus stops are not necessarily the same as a student’s regular bus stop or directly at their home.
- When fewer students are riding a particular bus, drivers may occasionally be able to make accommodations. However, families should not expect the bus to make stops outside of the published route.
- The late bus routes can take 45 minutes or more to complete, so students should be prepared for a longer ride home.
- Our goal is for students to take advantage of the many opportunities available after school. We have staff and activity advisors available until approximately 3:30 p.m.
- Students should wait in the designated area in front of the school after their activity.
- If a student is waiting for a parent/guardian to pick them up and their ride has not arrived by approximately 3:35–3:40 p.m., we ask that they get on the late bus rather than continue waiting outside.
We recognize that these are long days for our students, and we appreciate your help in making sure they have a safe and predictable plan for getting home. We also want to be respectful of our teachers’ time and the many responsibilities they have after the school day. Having students follow the late-bus routine helps us make these opportunities available while also allowing our staff to wrap up their day.
As students get more comfortable with the system, we believe the late buses will be a great option for accessing the many clubs, activities, extra-help sessions, and other opportunities available at Trottier.
